DEAD ARE COMING...

World War Z: The Horde

DESCRIPTION:

World War Z the video game has many people divided; on the one hand it is a four-player co-operative Zombie shooter with obvious parallels to Left 4 Dead but, on the other, it is time for just such a game - the Zombie multiplayer angle has not had a trend-setting game since Left 4 Dead 2 set the mould back in 2009. Initially, I too was sceptical, having my doubts about how this new video game could expand on that mould. The 2013 World War Z movie (again a controversial entry into the Zombie genre) introduced a new kind of Zombie; truly mindless dead speed freaks that would stop at absolutely nothing to get their next meal. They would run to their deaths without a second thought, freely charging off cliffs and into rotor blades. They worked together, without realising it - swarming over cars, toppling buses with surging waves of animated corpses and actually building insane ladders of flesh to breach high walls simply by piling on top of each other. Basically, they were like ants, extremely angry human-sized ants with an unquenchable desire for human flesh and, from the looks of the video above, this breath-taking swarming behaviour has made it into the game which is really, really cool. Fears of "we've seen it all before gameplay" have gone from my mind - this game just went from "meh" to "yeah"!
