Memorable Zombies #5 - Clown Zombie

DESCRIPTION:

Clown Zombie from Zombieland is fairly mundane on first inspection; he is a Zombie that was a clown before Zombification. He is also only in the film for less than a minute; introduced near the climax and quickly dispatched by Columbus using an oversized circus mallet (swinging for the groin and then crushing the head, following his strict Double Tap rule). However, this drooling Zombie is more than just a festering bag of running meat; he is a symbol. He allows Columbus to face his fears, his overwhelming phobia of clowns, transforming Columbus from nervous survivor to bad-ass apocalyptic hero, taking the battle to the Zombies he no longer flees from, saving Wichita and Little Rock as a result. Are Zombies bad? Yes, obviously - they'll bite your face off if they can but maybe, just maybe, something good can come out of a Zombie apocalypse after all. Clown Zombie, we salute you and your stupidly oversized bow-tie, honouring you with the well-deserved place in these virtual hallowed halls - not for what you are but for what you represent; a catalyst to free the terrified from the fear that shackles them.
