DESCRIPTION:

It's the weekend - a group of lads go out on the town for some much needed respite from the working week. However, 'something' has happened. The undead have risen and are rampaging through cities, devouring civilisation as we know it. A group of civilians take refuge in a deserted school (deserted of the living anyway). A handful of soldiers join their ranks, cut-off from the evacuation route, but they know no more help is coming - rescue is impossible. As the living dead pile up behind the school gates, waiting for a fresh meal, the battle for survival begins...

MY VERDICT:

The Dead Inside is more of a survival movie than a horror movie - there are no real scares or edge-of-your-seat tension. Basically the entire movie is taken up by the group in the school eating, sleeping, bickering amongst themselves and trying to fortify the area as much as possible from the nightmares roaming the streets. The DVD boxart implies slow-moving, shufflers but the Zombies in this film are anything but. They are fast-moving 28 Days Later sprinters and they number in the thousands. Quite how the producers got this many dead people running around and pushing themselves up against the school gates with such an evidently small budget is beyond belief. Downsides: mediocre acting throughout, confused plotline where Britain seems to be overrun before anyone knows about the Zombies and the film lasting far too long. Also, for a cheap laugh, watch out for the bald guy talking in the gym - his shiny bald head seems to emit light!
