DEAD ARE COMING...

Ibiza Undead

ZOMBIE RATING:

DESCRIPTION:

A group of friends (and one ex-girlfriend) jet off for a holiday of a lifetime with non-stop sun, sand, sea and sex. However, when the living dead show up on the island, it ruins everything.

MY VERDICT:

First of all, if you are the sort of person who likes realism, a sense-of-purpose, logic, deep story or even any explanation to why things are happening, just look away now - Ibiza Undead is not for you. Still here? Well, I am going to be honest here, I went in to watching this film thinking it would be absolutely awful, only watching so I could give the low-down on this low-key, British Zombie film on my wonderful website. I can however, cheerfully report that the movie is not terrible, just very, very bad. The acting is low-quality (though I've seen worse) and the lack of any conceivable story, or even mention as to why Zombies exist in this world or are being smuggled to the island of Ibiza, are the main knock-out blows that leave this movie dead in the water. There are, quite disturbingly, some up-points. The Zombies themselves are the slow-moving Romero variety - a nice change from the modern-day sprinters - and, with the odd exception, 'acted' relatively well. In addition, some of the jokes are actually funny, particularly the bit where the two "heroes" brain a party-goer who is drugged out of his skull thinking he is a Zombie, but being unsure after the fact. So, while I definitely would not recommend this low-budget horror film, I cannot send it to the insidious realm of eternal damnation either.
