THE DEAD TIMES

DEAD ARE COMING...

5-years Dead

With George Romero's legendary title (and probably the best Zombie movie ever made) celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, it is perhaps fitting that The Dead Times also has something special to get excited about; it is the fifth year since this brain-chopping, Zombie-loving, knowledge-spewing website came into being! Five years online without death-threats or "you suck" messages is a fantastic achievement; I'm thrilled, ecstatic, over-the-moon. But, I cannot let my guard down, the undead being an ever-present threat means that nowhere is safe - the ravenous undead could raise their ugly heads into the light at any moment and humanity must be prepared for the dire consequences that follow. In fact, the longer the living dead persist as an idea, a concept, infecting the minds of wayward individuals, their number grows - information, knowledge, learnings, the very things that separate us from the nightmarish horrors that shuffle through our psyche is more important than ever. To this end, The Dead Times is evolving, mutating, becoming more than it once was.

  1. An age-old terror has been vanquished - When I started this glorious and terrifying website, an annoying bug persisted where readers could, via the Contact page, send messages that were blank (this should have been impossible but somehow, life found a way). Alas, now this foe has been slain. However, as Zombie-fans well know; what is dead, does not always stay that way.
  2. Comments have been disabled - This change was a 'tuff one; I really did not want to remove a key way of communicating with readers (and you communicating with me) but I was simply getting too much spam about cheap drugs, automatic essay writers and other non-sensical gubbins. So, that's it, they're gone - pooft, bye-bye. If you want a comment added to an article, you'll have to message me directly using the Contact page.
  3. Star ratings visible as an overview - This was a real no-brainer; the star rating of everything reviewed is now immediately visible on the overview page. Gone are the days when you had to open a new page just to see if a movie, book or video game was actually any good.
  4. News - The first major new feature to The Dead Times is hopefully visible right now on the homepage; that's right, The Dead Times will be bringing you the very latest Zombie news! This will include everything from movie announcements to non-confirmed speculation about upcoming Zombie projects. I am very excited to kick off this feature - one I have wanted for a long time - but, bear with me, I'm only one guy, working in my off-time so I may occasionally lag behind on some stories.

What's coming next?

Z-dates - It's not here yet but, being my second gargantuan feature, it is going to take a bit more time to get it into the cracking form it deserves. Z-dates is going to be a calendar system, listing the dates of upcoming Zombie things; be it movie releases or Zombie events.

More Zombies!!! - Yes, I'm not giving up, getting bored of Zombies after five years of writing about them almost weekly or running out of ideas for future articles. So expect more of the same great material that has made this website so brain-drenchingly wonderful over the past five years.

Zombies - Never out of focus
