THE DEAD TIMES

DEAD ARE COMING...

Origins

It's proving to be an amazing month here at The Dead Times. The second event of jaw-dropping magnificence blessing our tired lives is happening over at Indiegogo right now. A new Zombie movie has been announced and is desperately seeking your help to get it out of the starting block. Nothing revolutionary about that you may say - Zombie movies number in their thousands, each one of varying quality. However, this no ordinary Zombie movie. This ambitious project promises to produce the cinematic experience that all Zombie fanatics have been waiting for. The prospective movie is, and I hope you are sitting down, a fully-fledged prequel to the movie that started it all back in 1968, none other than George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead.

Okay, so that is a bodacious concept but still, an idea is no sure-fire victory. What is really going to make you want to throw money at this project is that the script is written and the film to be directed by the Godfather of the Dead's son, George Cameron Romero. Not only that, but as the below video tells, the script for this new Zombie movie has the approval of the Godfather himself!

Origins, the title of the hoped-for movie, will depict the story of how the first Zombie lumbered into that iconic cemetery at the start of Night of the Living Dead. At last the question of where the modern Zombie came from will be answered by the only person qualified to give an answer - the son of the man who introduced the genre. The story, or what is given away by the project page, is fairly scant at this early point.

"In 1962, Dr. Ryan Cartwright was on the scientific and altruistic path to find a way for humans to sustain life in the event of M.A.D (Mutual Assured Destruction), a huge topic brought on by the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Little did he know that over the course of the next several years of his life, he would take a well-funded and military focused journey to the darkest corners of the world... as he creates the ultimate weapon for the government and a curse that will plague mankind for the rest of days."

This brevity is largely because of the unique reward level the project lead is calling Brain Trust. For just $30 you can have a say in important decisions within the film such as the actors used, story elements and marketing. That is a phenomenal opportunity for fans of the undead and those who love George A. Romero's work (is it even possible to like Zombies and not be a fan of the "of the Dead" series).

There are dozens of other reward levels as well - my personal favourite and the level I pledged at gives you, amongst over things, a limited edition model Zombie arm and Zombie leg, signed by George Cameron Romero and the film's cast. So don't delay, point your favoured web browser to helptelltheorigin.com and pledge today. Every donation, no matter how large or small, helps bring this incredible dream closer to fruition. This film must be made as the potential for the future of the Zombie genre, if successful, is absolutely mind-blowing.
