THE DEAD TIMES

DEAD ARE COMING...

Homepage Update

News reached my festered ear that the slider and news slider on the homepage of my website of glorious undeath had stopped working - a truly unspeakable horror which, thankfully, has now been rectified. But, my heathen friends, those features where not just retooled, the gremlins within them not simply cast out - the shattered and broken tools have been improved, re-animated from soulless corpses, transformed into something better, something delightfully terrible, an upgrade to that which came before. This was no easy task, code was messy, innards were spilt and rotting with putrid ooze, guts were tangled but, with the eternal horrors of time on my side, the quest was completed.

The recent updates slider

By now your ghastly eyes will have seen the new and vastly improved slider on the homepage. As always, it shows the four most recent updates to the site - highlighting those juicy morsels with pretty pictures and moving lights. The size of these images has increased significantly and, mercifully, they now shall not be stretched to fill the entire space but maintain their normal aspect, a feature that makes narrower book and movie covers far clearer. The navbar, showing thumbnails for each update in the slider, remains the same - you can still click an update's thumbnail to move the slider directly to that update, or just leave it running, regularly changing the update shown in the slider. The only difference is that the navbar is now below the slider, freeing up the horizontal space required for a larger image.

The news slider (or the lack of it)

Wait, what's that you say? There's no news slider - has my brain finally fallen out of the decaying skull that holds it? No, the lack of a news slider is very intentional, being replaced by a simple table of headlines from the most recent news articles. I just thought that another slider was overkill (not that I am against a good bit of killing mind you). Besides, some of the older ghouls out there - maybe some fresh animates too - don't like using JavaScript (some ill-fated security nonsense) and I wanted to reduce the site's usage of such a devilish tool of obscurity. Plus, the table is crisp and clear, shoving the news headlines straight towards your eyeholes. Click on the table for the full list of news stories - it's DEAD simple.

To end, here's a quote from 1979's hit sci-fi horror movie, Alien:

Parker: "When we fix something, we stay fixed. Don't we, Brett baby?"

Brett: "Right."
